Meet Emily.
A B O U T T H E A R T I S T.
As both an artist and an educator, I believe deeply in the power of art to awaken curiosity, cultivate empathy, and connect us more intentionally to the world around us. My work spans a range of disciplines—hand-built ceramic sculpture, photography, graphic design, expressive painting, and realistic portraiture—each medium offering a new language through which to explore and interpret the human experience.
I earned my BFA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a concentration in 2D art forms and a minor in Art Education. I now teach preschool and elementary art at St. Peter’s Episcopal School, where my mission is to spark imagination and empower students to discover their creative potential. The joy I found in learning and making was largely shaped by my own art teachers, whose impact still inspires both my teaching and studio practice today.
In my art, I aim to slow the viewer down. Like a visual game of I Spy, my work is layered and detailed—inviting close looking and quiet contemplation. I’m interested in the moments we often overlook, the patterns we fail to notice, and the subtle beauty in the everyday. Rather than presenting all the answers at once, I want my pieces to unfold over time—rewarding patience with deeper meaning.
